Christopher has worked in the financial services industry for over 25 years over half of which he has spent in project management alongside banking operations, fund & investment operations, financial regulation, client services, life platform administration, operational due diligence and investment oversight.
Christopher started his career with a short stint in the Guernsey subsidiary of an international bank. In late 1994 Christopher moved to Guinness Flight, which in 1998 was acquired by the Investec Group. Christopher remained with Investec Asset Management Guernsey Limited until 2016 and held such roles as Legal & Technical Manager, Projects Manager and Operations Manager. Immediately prior to leaving Investec Christopher was Technical Director, responsible for project dealing with the implementation of new regulation. He was also General Representative of the Guernsey Branch of Investec Assurance Limited and a director or alternate director of various Investec licenses, funds and special purpose vehicles in Guernsey.
In September 2016 Christopher launched Midshore Consulting Limited, a consultancy operating in the areas of regulation, oversight, operational processes, international distribution, automatic exchange of information, website design and system implementation. Midshore deals with both Guernsey and international financial services regulation as well as data protection and online gambling regulation. Christopher has a particular affinity for regulation relating to the cross-border provision of products and services including AIFMD, MiFID II and non-EU equivalents.
Christopher was elected as Chair of the Guernsey Investment & Funds Association (GIFA) in May 2019. He has served GIFA in various capacities for more than seven years and has previously been both Vice Chair of the Association and Chair of GIFA’s Technical Sub-Committee. He represents GIFA as a Council Member of the Guernsey International Business Association and has previously served on Guernsey’s working groups for both AIFMD and MiFID II as well as GIFA’s Open-Ended Working Group.
Christopher is Vice President of the Guernsey Branch of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment. He was the Founding Chairman of the Bailiwick of Guernsey Data Protection Association and currently serves as Treasurer. He also sits on the ILS & Reinsurance Steering Group of the Guernsey International Insurance Association.
Christopher is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment, a Member of the Institute of Directors and an IMC Member of the CFA Society of the UK. His qualifications span investment operations, investment management, financial services regulation and Islamic finance.
